Counting Squares Worksheets

This math game for preschoolers will help them practice solving simple addition and subtraction problems within 10. The goal is to count colored squares and solve addition and subtraction problems.
Print out the adding and subtracting worksheets for kindergarten or homeschooling and choose any worksheet for your lesson. Do not use more than 1 worksheet per lesson to avoid overworking young students.
Invite your child to look at the first example at the top of the page. Between the blocks of colored squares is a «+» or «-» sign that indicates which action – addition or subtraction – to perform. Your student must count the number of colored squares in the first block and remember that number, then count the squares in the second block and remember that number, too. Once your child has two numbers, solve the addition or subtraction problem and write the answer in the space to the right.
